A new study has shown that diabetes patients with the poorest control of their blood sugars face the highest risks of hospitalization and death due to infections.
Hospira, Inc. (NYSE: HSP), the world leader in generic injectable pharmaceuticals, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company's applications for six new presentations of therapeutic heparin in single- and multiple-dose vials.
A wireless physiological monitoring system designed by the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, has proved to increase medical efficiency and safety for dialysis patients.
Patients need less blood after surgery than is widely thought. A new study comparing two plans for giving blood transfusions following surgery showed no ill effects from postponing transfusion until patients develop signs of anemia or their hemoglobin concentration falls below 8 g/dL.
