Cancer of the pancreas is a particularly deadly cancer, claiming over 90% of its victims within 5 years from diagnosis. It resists most standard therapies, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy, and metastasizes early, often before being diagnosed. Repros Therapeutics (NasdaqGM:RPRX) today announced that on September 15, 2009, the Company received a second letter from The Nasdaq Stock Market advising that, in addition to the deficiencies previously disclosed on August 17, 2009, the Company's market value of publicly held shares was below the minimum $15,000,000 requirement for continued listing on the Nasdaq Global Market by Listing Rule 5450(b)(2)(C) or 5450(b)(3)(C).
Scientists from A*STAR's Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS), together with clinical collaborators from London , discovered for the first time that children and young patients with chronic Hepatitis B Virus infection (HBV carriers) do have a protective immune response, contrary to current belief, and hence can be more suitable treatment candidates than previously considered.
A study published today in Nature Communications shows that the drug rucaparib has been effective in treating certain types of ovarian cancers if used early in treatment, after a diagnosis, and before the cancer cells build up a resistance to chemotherapy.
