Small leakages from blood vessels in the brain, known as microbleeds, increase with age and are associated with cognitive decline. Of 84 older patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), nearly a quarter developed new microbleeds after their procedure, according to results of a single-center study presented at the American College of Cardiology's 66th Annual Scientific Session.
Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. today announced the New England Journal of Medicine has published results from TARGET 1 and TARGET 2, the Company's two pivotal Phase 3 efficacy and safety studies of XIFAXAN (rifaximin) 550 mg tablets for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome without constipation, or Non-C IBS.
Results of the two largest studies on hyponatremia, SALT-1 and SALT-2, presented Nov. 14 at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions in Chicago, found that the investigational drug tolvaptan treated hyponatremia - water intoxication - faster and more effectively than available treatments.
Vancive Medical Technologies and DUKAL Corporation today announced an agreement for the distribution of the Vancive BeneHold Absorbent Wound Dressing range in the United States and Canada. The BeneHold range includes the Thin Absorbent Wound Dressing, the Standard Hydrocolloid Dressing and the Bordered Hydrocolloid Dressing with Odor Control.
When it comes to feeding babies, the old adage "breast is best" certainly holds true, with breastfed babies having less diarrhea and fewer ear infections and incidents of wheezing in early life.
