Scientists have found why a certain type of bacteria, harmless in healthy people, is so deadly to patients with cystic fibrosis.
Understanding the link between diabetes and early dementia - as well as how diabetes relates to other causes of memory loss - is the focus of a new study at Columbia University Medical Center and approximately 40 other medical institutions nationwide.
Picis announced today that Bayonne Medical Center, Bayonne, NJ, has successfully deployed Picis ED PulseCheck™, part of the CareSuite® family of high-acuity solutions, two months ahead of schedule. This aggressive implementation is aimed at helping clinicians in the emergency department (ED) better manage information and the process of treating over 28,000 ED patients annually.
The National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA) programme has commissioned a new study to identify the most effective and efficient surveillance methods for women who have received treatment for primary breast cancer.
Teens don't necessarily follow in their parents' footsteps when it comes to physical activity, finds a new study in the Journal of Adolescent Health. While teens with normal weight parents tended to be more fit, having physically active parents didn't affect teens' level of fitness.
