First-time parents' relationship satisfaction is related to the amount of sleep they get while caring for an infant, according to a research abstract that will be presented Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas, at SLEEP 2010, the 24th annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies LLC.
Arno Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that its Phase II clinical study of AR-67 has met pre-defined interim goals for patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) who were not previously treated with Avastin and will continue toward completion.
Research conducted by the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences provides evidence to support expansion of insurance plan coverage of noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT), a simple maternal blood draw which screens for fetal chromosomal disorders including trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), and trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), to women under the age of 35.
Blood and urine tests play vital roles in modern medicine. Yet in vast regions of the world where refrigeration is not available, preserving samples for testing is virtually impossible.
Jonathan Waxman, a professor of oncology, was inspired to write a book by his conversations with his patients. Here, he gained insight into his patients' fears, hopes, and the impact the disease has on their lives. In The Elephant in the Room, Waxman explores the relationship of patient and specialist, how both sides deal with cancer, their interactions, and what doctors actually mean when talking to their patients.
