A Rutgers-led team has developed a tool to monitor influenza A virus mutations in real time, which could help virologists learn how to stop viruses from replicating.
A group of scientists from the Institute of Ecology and the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Mexico, created a membrane capable of simultaneously detecting numerous organisms in the water or food that cause diarrhea and intestinal problems. This health problem annually kills 760 000 children under the age of five, according to the World Health Organization.
BioTrends Research Group, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of a new syndicated report, TreatmentTrends: Noninfectious Uveitis. This report, based on feedback gathered in an on-line survey completed by 72 retinal specialists in June/July 2010, addresses the medical management of noninfectious uveitis (anterior, intermediate, posterior and panuveitis) and referral/co-management patterns between retinal specialists and other specialties.
A research team jointly led by scientists from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the University of California, Los Angeles, have enhanced a device they developed to identify and "grab" circulating tumor cells, or CTCs, that break away from cancers and enter the blood, often leading to the spread of cancer to other parts of the body.
A new World Health Organization report highlights the urgent need to reduce emissions of black carbon, ozone and methane - as well as carbon dioxide – which all contribute to climate change.
