The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer is receiving a second five-year mandate, to begin in 2012, and $250 million in funding to continue implementation of Canada's national cancer control strategy.
The GammaPod - a first-of-its kind stereotactic radiotherapy system to treat early stage breast cancer - has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, paving the way for the manufacturer to bring the system to market for the treatment of breast cancer patients.
Ms Hewitt has promised a "much stronger" legal framework in the National Health Service (NHS) to help hospitals reduce the rate of antibiotic-resistant MRSA and other hospital acquired infections.
