In his debut memoir, "No Expiration Dates: A Cancer Patient's Strategies for Survival" (published by iUniverse), Leon Weisman recounts his unique and inspirational battle with lung cancer while also offering practical advice about the emotional and social changes that a cancer diagnosis can bring to a patient as well as a family embarking on the fight to stay alive.
Regulatory and commercial considerations are the primary drivers for successful biosimilar clinical development, according to a new report from Quintiles, titled An Integrated Approach to Biosimilar Development & Commercialization. In addition, the report states that successful biosimilar companies will be those who collapse their clinical, commercial, and regulatory thinking into a streamlined cohesive function as they proceed with developing biosimilars.
A study led by Som Nanjappa at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine identifies a cellular target that may improve efficacy in vaccines designed to protect immunocompromised individuals from potentially deadly opportunistic infections.
"Is it cultural imperialism for Westerners to oppose [female] genital mutilation? Yes, perhaps, but it's also justified. But it is clear that the most effective efforts against genital mutilation are grass-roots initiatives by local women working for change from within a culture".
Male thyroid cancer survivors have a nearly 50 percent higher risk of developing heart disease than women within five years of cancer diagnosis, according to a new study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
