Providing proper care and oral hygiene during preschool years can mean a lifetime of good oral health, according to a recent article in the January/February issue of General Dentistry, clinical, peer-reviewed journal of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), an organization of general dentists dedicated to continuing education.
PRA International, a leading Clinical Research Organization, will host an audio conference on strategies for successful cardiovascular (CV) drug development on 24 August 2010 at 11:30 am (EDT). Dr. Michael Kirchengast, Vice President and Head of PRA's Scientific Affairs unit, will be the presenter.
Pleura and Peritoneum, a new De Gruyter journal, aims to reinvigorate research into the relatively obscure membranes that protect the lungs and abdomen. While the pleura and peritoneum have been largely overlooked by researchers in recent years, this wasn't always the case: Ancient medical literature discusses both organs, and prior to 1930 the pleura was the subject of numerous scientific disputes in the fields of anatomy and surgery.
The Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) was surprised and dismayed to read articles in two of North America's most prestigious newspapers which question the use of certain commonly used physiotherapy treatments for musculoskeletal injuries. The articles, titled "Some physical therapy may be a stretch" and "Treat me, but no tricks please" suggest that ice, heat, ultrasound and other modalities are "voodoo" treatments.
A study of how the brain of a premature infant responds to injury has found vulnerabilities similar to those in the mature brain but also identified at least one significant difference, according to neuroscientists and neonatologists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
