UNIVERSITY of Huddersfield researcher Yeshwanth Pulijala is dedicated to bringing about big improvements in medical training by harnessing the power of virtual reality and 3D technology. Now, he is part of a team that has developed the prototype for an innovative tool that will enable doctors to develop their communication skills - including the breaking of bad news - by conducting a simulated interview with a virtual patient.
On Friday, an appeals court temporarily stayed a judge's ban on the federal government's funding of embryonic stem-cell research, the The Associated Press/The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "The National Institutes of Health said it was resuming its own research and would again evaluate applications from scientists who are seeking taxpayer money to do the work, a process that has been frozen since late last month."
For as long as our ancestors have been drawing pictograms or writing prose about food and culture, humans have been imbibing various forms of alcohol. Once simply a process by which nutritious beverages could be preserved and stored for later use, there is no doubt that the production and consumption of wines, beers, and spirits now provides integral texture to the fabric of many cultures.
