Head Start Body Start National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play today announced a Request for Proposals to Head Start centers nationwide. Approximately $2 million is available through the HSBS Play Space Grant Awards to improve Head Start centers' outdoor play spaces with an emphasis on creating an environment that helps to increase physical play.
Amid a growing climate of concern regarding the overuse of opioid pain medications, a comprehensive analysis of more than 1 million hospital admissions has found that over 50 percent of all nonsurgical patients were prescribed opioids during their hospitalizations - often at very high doses - and that more than half of those exposed were still receiving these medications on the day they were discharged from the hospital.
While many different combinations of genetic traits can cause autism, brains affected by autism share a pattern of ramped-up immune responses, an analysis of data from autopsied human brains reveals. The study, a collaborative effort between Johns Hopkins and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, included data from 72 autism and control brains.
A new Cleveland Clinic study has found that receiving the influenza vaccine does not increase a person's risk for contracting COVID-19 or worsen associated morbidity or mortality.
