CuraGen Corporation has announced that new preclinical data on belinostat (PXD101), a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor being investigated for the treatment of cancer, and velafermin, a protein being investigated for the prevention of severe oral mucositis, will be presented at the upcoming American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) 2007 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, CA, April 14-18, 2007.
A six-year-old Texas Children's Hospital patient is the first pediatric patient in the world to receive a MicroMed/DeBakey® child ventricular assist device (VAD), recently approved by the FDA for use in children. The new, scaled-down heart pump improves blood flow for patients awaiting heart transplants.
A UC Irvine ophthalmologist and his team have invented a new laser-surgery technique to perform cornea-transplant surgery that can replace the use of traditional handheld surgical blades and potentially improve recovery time for patients.
Each injury means a little more as individuals age - more impact and more healing time.
