University of York scientists are part of an international team which has discovered how a parasite responsible for spreading a serious tropical disease protects itself from starvation once inside its human host.
Every state can now lay claim to the nanotechnology revolution. Data released today by the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies (PEN) highlights more than 1,200 companies, universities, government laboratories, and other organizations across all 50 U.S. states and in the District of Columbia that are involved in nanotechnology research, development, and commercialization. This number is up 50 percent from the 800 organizations identified just two years ago.
Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading integrated global pharmaceutical company, today confirmed that it has received a favorable decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit related to its ongoing patent challenge in connection with Watson's Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking FDA approval to market a generic version of Teva Women's Health, Inc.'s SEASONIQUE and ethinyl estradiol.
"Despite early indications the Sahel would not suffer pangs of hunger this year, experts now worry that food insecurity could be worse than in 2012 - the year of the West Africa food crisis," Thomson Reuters Foundation reports.
At some hospitals, children receive better care in the daytime than they do at night for suspected appendicitis. This is the finding of a study to be published in the April 2017 issue of Academic Emergency Medicine, a journal of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
