Quest Diagnostics, the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services, today announced that it will collaborate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to identify trends in screening, diagnosis and treatment for four strains of viral hepatitis in the United States, based on insights revealed by analysis of Quest's national testing database.
As a profession, nurse anesthesia is at a tipping point. While recent federal legislation and changes to the U.S. Medicare program have expanded opportunities for certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) to provide care to more patients and receive reimbursement for their services, many states still restrict their scope of practice and limit their pay.
The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee has again recommended KALYDECO (ivacaftor) for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). However, Vertex is deeply disappointed in the conditions the PBAC has attached to the recommendation. These conditions fail to reflect the substantial clinical benefits recognised by the PBAC, and would result in limiting the number of eligible Australians who would be able to receive KALYDECO.
Urologists at a leading Irish hospital have reported an alarming increase in the number of teenage boys and young men developing mumps orchitis, in a paper published in the April issue of the urology journal BJUI.
