According to new research, epigenetic changes found in the offspring exposed to maternal smoking during pregnancy or in current smokers are linked to smoking-related diseases in adulthood.
3M Health Information Systems, an international leader in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding and clinical terminology management, has released the 3M ICD-10 Code Translation Tool, now fully integrated with 3M's medical vocabulary server, the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary, to provide a single source solution for translating and converting ICD-9 based applications to ICD-10.
A team of international researchers has discovered that a specific gene on chromosome 15 regulates inflammation, a finding with implications for a wide range of disorders, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer's, and infections. The findings are published in the October 9 online issue of Nature Genetics.
They come from highway accident scenes and nursing home beds, from factories and farm fields, from suburban homes, downtown sidewalks and small community hospitals.
A medical device for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) sufferers which lessens their exposure to infections resulting in fewer doctors' visits, reduced antibiotic usage and shorter hospital stays, is expected to be market ready within two years.
