The Fourth of July was a little different this year here in Texas' biggest city. Parades were canceled and some of the region's beaches were closed. At the city's biggest fireworks show, "Freedom Over Texas," fireworks were shot higher in the air to make it easier to watch from a distance. Other fireworks displays encouraged people to stay in their cars.

In a new study researchers have found a connection between exacerbation of bronchial asthma and high calorie burgers and fries. Diet and lifestyle have been linked to asthma for some time now but this is the first real evidence. With the advent of unhealthy diets the incidence and prevalence of asthma is on the rise. In 2007, about 34.1 million Americans had asthma, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. From 1980 through 1994, the prevalence of asthma increased by 75 percent.
New York Times: President Obama is scheduled to give an interview with Bret Baier of Fox News Wednesday evening. The interview comes "at the height of a week in which Democrats, including Mr. Obama, are pressing allies and lawmakers to push ahead to get the health care bill passed in the House despite solid Republican opposition and the lessening of public support for the legislation." The interview comes after Obama administration aides last year criticized Fox News for its political coverage and commentary (3/16).
