The Medicines Company today announced the publication of the results from the SOLO I Phase 3 clinical trial of ORBACTIV (oritavancin), an investigational intravenous antibiotic treatment for Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infections (ABSSSI), in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Pfizer Inc. today announced the commencement of a tender offer by its wholly owned subsidiary, Parker Tennessee Corp., for all outstanding shares of common stock of King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for $14.25 per share, net to the seller in cash, without interest thereon and subject to any required withholding taxes.
"In the Horn of Africa, millions of people face each day without knowing if they will have clean water to drink or food to eat," but "American assistance to the Horn of Africa is beginning to make a difference, however, and in this series about water security in the Horn, we will showcase how water projects are helping people gain predictable access to clean water as a first step to gaining a foothold on a better life."
A new study suggests a growing number of U.S. adolescents lack antibodies that may help protect them later in life against an increasingly important cause of genital herpes. Published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases and available online, the findings show that fewer of today's teens have been exposed in their childhood to herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), a common cause of cold sores, than U.S. adolescents in previous years.
