For individuals with chronic kidney disease, strict blood pressure control may help protect against premature death. That's the conclusion of a recent analysis of clinical trial data. The findings appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
Researchers at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center are describing an entirely new way by which cells can become cancerous. And they say their finding provides an answer to a mystery in lung and other cancers.
The Society of Interventional Radiology Foundation recently received a $1 million planned-gift donation to create a future scholarship fund for interventional radiology fellows to pursue this medical profession. SIR Foundation is dedicated to advancing the clinical needs of interventional radiology by specializing in developing investigators trained in conducting pivotal basic and clinical trials research.
A high proportion of patients with high blood pressure are failing to take their medication properly and would benefit clinically from a course of 'adherence therapy', according to new research from the University of East Anglia.
Healthcare professionals are in a unique position to identify and rescue victims of human trafficking. Nearly 88 percent of them seek medical treatment during captivity, and of those, 68 percent of them are seen in the emergency department.
