Omeros Corporation (Nasdaq: OMER) today announced that it has obtained an exclusive license from The Regents of the University of California to a new series of antifibrinolytic agents. These optimized agents represent a significant potential advance in the control of surgical and traumatic bleeding.
Winner Medical Group Inc., a leading manufacturer of medical dressings, medical disposables and non-woven PurCotton materials for the medical and consumer products industries in China, today reported that third quarter fiscal year 2010 revenue year-on-year increased 27.0%, to $30.9 million, net income increased 10.1% to $3.4 million and a sales of PurCotton products year-on-year increased 114.0%, to $2.6 million.
Studying HIV-1, the most common and infectious HIV subtype, Johns Hopkins scientists have identified 25 human proteins "stolen" by the virus that may be critical to its ability to infect new cells. HIV-1 viruses capture many human proteins from the cells they infect but the researchers believe these 25 proteins may be particularly important because they are found in HIV-1 viruses coming from two very different types of infected cells.
Statins did not protect patients against colorectal adenomas, which are benign precursors of colorectal cancer, according to results of a secondary analysis of the Adenoma Prevention with Celecoxib trial. In a population at high-risk for developing these lesions, results of this analysis suggested statin use may increase the risk of developing benign colorectal tumors.
Vascular Solutions, Inc. and Shepherd Scientific, Inc. today announced they have entered into a distribution agreement providing for Vascular Solutions to distribute Shepherd Scientific's Angio Assist and Teirstein Edge products in the United States. The Angio Assist is an easy-to-use docking station that facilitates the introduction of guide wires into interventional devices including catheters and atherectomy burrs.
