A McMaster University researcher is alerting men and their doctors that osteoporosis isn't just a woman's problem but that the bone-wasting disease can severely afflict them, too.
Text messaging, mobile apps, and other digital technologies are being used in innovative ways to support nonspecialist health workers in increasing access to mental health care in low- and middle-income countries, according to a narrative review in the March/April issue of Harvard Review of Psychiatry.
According to Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, standouts in surgical procedures in terms of growth over the next five years are going to be dental implant, facial injectable, optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheter, spinal nonfusion implant, and percutaneous heart valve procedures in North America.
Melanoma patients who receive treatment with targeted therapies experience an initial response that feels like a cure, but that early excitement is quickly dampened when patients relapse as their cancers find alternative pathways in our cells to grow and spread. With melanoma so good at escaping targeted treatments, there's a dire need to halt these cancers in their tracks to prolong good responses and promote longer, healthier lives.
