BSD Medical Corporation, a leading provider of medical systems that utilize heat therapy to treat cancer, announced today that the Company has obtained Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) marketing approval for the BSD-2000 Hyperthermia System (BSD-2000) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Today at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) 43rd Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer®, Dr. Jonathan Ledermann, Director of Cancer Services and Professor of Medical Oncology at University College London, presented new data updating the overall survival of women enrolled in a "Phase II randomized placebo-controlled study of olaparib (AZD2281) maintenance in patients with platinum-sensitive relapsed serous ovarian cancer."
The National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB) is scheduled this week to hold "a closed-door meeting to once again look at unpublished manuscripts describing" two studies that showed how H5N1 bird flu virus could be manipulated to become transmissible among ferrets, a model for humans, NPR's health blog "Shots" reports, noting that the meeting "will include a classified briefing from the intelligence community."
Researchers from the Sinai Center for Thrombosis Research presented findings from a Phase 2a trial substudy that examined the antiplatelet effects of CSL112, a novel apolipoprotein A-I (apo A-I) infusion therapy, at the American Heart Association 2013 Scientific Sessions.
