The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is highlighting that young Australian men have higher rates of risky behaviours than young women and that this can put their health at immediate and long term risk. This warning comes as International Men's Health Week takes place from 13 – 19 June 2011.
Researchers from the University of Texas, San Antonio and UT-Health Sciences, Texas, recently attempted to fill this knowledge gap by addressing how the COVID-19 pandemic and related stay-at-home orders are changing the daily habits of individuals.
Patients with acutely life-threatening health conditions who were treated in the innovative Critical Care Resuscitation Unit received faster treatment and had better health outcomes, including a 36 percent lower risk of dying than those who were transferred from a hospital's emergency department then evaluated and treated in a traditional intensive care unit, according to a recent study in the Journal of Emergency Medicine conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Life Technologies Corporation today announced the commercial availability of the Applied Biosystems AutoMate Express™ Forensic DNA Extraction System, which is designed to streamline sample preparation and improve downstream DNA profile quality. The system, designed and validated as part of the complete Applied Biosystems human identification workflow to provide optimal efficiency and data quality, has already been adopted by all 48 government forensic laboratories in Japan.
