A novel therapy that reduces elevated blood levels of a potentially toxic protein in women with preeclampsia, a dangerous complication of pregnancy, may someday address the therapeutic dilemma posed by the condition - balancing life-threatening risks to the mother with the dangers that early delivery poses to an immature fetus.
Thanks to technical progress, there are now new areas in which whole body magnetic resonance imaging can be used. In the current edition of Deutsches -rzteblatt International (Dtsch Arztebl Int 2010; 107[22]: 383-9), Gerwin Schmidt and his coauthors present a review of possible uses, together with the limits of this radiation-free diagnostic procedure.
ICF International, a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, has been awarded a $31.8 million re-compete contract by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to provide information technology and scientific support services to the National Center for Toxicological Research.
