From fad diets to exercise programs, Americans continue to fight the battle of the bulge. Now they'll have help from recent Tel Aviv University research that has developed a new method to look at how fat cells which produce the fat in our bodies respond to mechanical loads.
Several genes with strong associations to schizophrenia have evolved rapidly due to selection during human evolution, according to new research in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B (Wednesday 5 September 2007).
A study led by the University of Barcelona has identified the process in the brain which strengthens or weakens memories of our daily events while we sleep. According to the study published in the scientific journal The Journal of Neuroscience , the brain reactivates networks of interrelated memories during sleep, instead of doing so with isolated memories.
New research published online in the journal Substance Use & Misuse is good news for those struggling with alcohol dependence: the possibility of ending this dependency gets easier with age.
