Unibased Systems Architecture, Inc. today announced Bay Area Hospital (BAH) in Coos Bay, Oregon successfully implemented the Unibased ForSite2020® periOperative Resource Management System (ORMS). BAH contracted with Unibased for the complete ForSite2020 surgery management system suite in December 2009 with the goal of achieving total perioperative automation and moving forward with their hospital-wide electronic health record (EHR) initiative.

Masimo announced today the findings of a study published in the Turkish Journal of Emergency Medicine in which Drs. Seda Dağar and Hüseyin Uzunosmanoğlu at the Kecioren Training and Research Hospital in Ankara, Turkey investigated the role that noninvasive, continuous Masimo PVi® might play in monitoring volume status and volume changes in spontaneously breathing patients undergoing hemodialysis.
A feasibility study to test the use of a scalp cooling device that breast cancer patients will wear while undergoing chemotherapy treatment will be conducted at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. This will be part of the first significant study of the medical device in the United States.
As the World Health Organisation suggests the E. coli outbreak in Germany is a strain never before seen in an outbreak - O104:H4 - laboratory science conducted at the University of Southampton indicates a role for copper in preventing the spread of such infections.
