Researchers have developed a multivariable risk classification tool for estimating patients' risk for urinary incontinence after undergoing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
Brown was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema, the third leading cause of death in the United States, only behind heart disease and cancer. Right now, the only studied interventions that prolong life for patients with severe COPD are supplemental oxygen in people with low oxygen levels and lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) in appropriately selected individuals. Like most COPD patients, Brown was given medication but told there was no cure. He was 58 years old.
In a study that enrolled nearly 30,000 apparently healthy men and women, those who had an increase in their resting heart rate over a 10-year period had an increased risk of death from all causes and from ischemic heart disease, according to a study in the December 21 issue of JAMA.
The Ontario Budget has taken a step toward providing the type of expanded screening for breast cancer that Ontario women need, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation —Ontario Region says.
A new NIH program is awarding nearly $2.5 million to spur innovation in mobile communication technologies and software applications used in biomedical research in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
