Uganda's Ministry of Health will provide the artemisinin-based combination therapy Coartem to private health clinics at subsidized prices to curb the spread of malaria in the country, Minister of State for Primary Health Care Emmanuel Otaala said Wednesday, New Vision reports.
Researchers from North Carolina State University have developed an "off-the-shelf" artificial cardiac patch that can deliver cardiac cell-derived healing factors directly to the site of heart attack injury. In a rat model of heart attack, the freezable, cell-free patch improved recovery.
Now, a new study by researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine has revealed that swapping out red meat for certain plant-based meat alternatives can help improve some cardiovascular risk factors. The use of plant-based alternative meats, there is still limited evidence of the health effects of these products.
XRC Medical Imaging (XRCMI) has announced a new rapid results program offering feedback directly to patients regarding their imaging tests within 24 hours of their appointments. XRCMI Medical Director Vu Nguyen, M.D., noted that in many cases, patients will actually get their test results before they leave from their appointment. Tests in the rapid results program include diagnostic mammograms, general X-rays and bone density tests, as well as CT and ultrasound scans.
