As part of an annual Orthopedic Surgery Mission to St. Vincent & the Grenadines, a young girl from St. Vincent in the Caribbean has received a rare in-country complex repair procedure for her spine after waiting several years on a waiting list to come to the US for treatment.
A new in vitro (test tube) study, "Dietary functional benefits of Bartlett and Starkrimson pears for potential management of hyperglycemia, hypertension and ulcer bacteria Helicobacter pylori while supporting beneficial probiotic bacterial response," was published in the March issue of Food Research International.
For the first time, researchers have provided physiological evidence that a pervasive neuromodulation system - a group of neurons that regulate the functioning of more specialized neurons - strongly influences sound processing in an important auditory region of the brain.
