Analysis from business intelligence provider GBI Research - Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Therapeutics in Major Developed Markets to 2021 - states that the global market value for T1DM treatment will rise from $4.2 billion in 2014 to $7.1 billion by 2021, at a robust Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.9%.
One in eight children living with HIV/AIDS "experiences triple-class virological failure - meaning the virus becomes resistant to multiple drugs - within five years of starting antiretroviral treatment," according to a study published Wednesday in the Lancet, HealthDay News/MSN reports. The "failure rate is higher than in adults and highlights the challenge of maintaining viral load suppression in young patients who begin antiretroviral therapy so early in life, the researchers said," according to the news service (Preidt, 4/19).
Rush University Medical Center was selected as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the United States by Thomson Reuters. The annual Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals National Benchmarks study identifies the 100 best U.S. hospitals based on their overall organizational performance. Rush was one of only 15 major teaching hospitals in the country to be named.
