Georgia State University researchers are working to harness deep learning and artificial intelligence to learn more about how mental illness and other disorders affect the brain.
A recent study from the Henry Ford Sports Medicine Research team suggests that high school athletes competing, not only in football, but in soccer, hockey, basketball, swimming, cheerleading and other sports are not only at risk for concussions, but may need a longer recovery than first thought.
Overall health insurance premiums rose 7 percent in 2009, even as the number of people with health coverage fell. "Individual premium revenues rose 15 percent while group premiums, which involve mostly employers, rose nearly 3 percent, according to the report from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, an organization whose prominence has grown following passage of the new U.S. health reform law."
ARAMARK Canada Ltd., a leader in providing professional food services to more than 150 middle and high schools across Ontario, is in full support of the Ontario Ministry of Education's Policy Memorandum No. 150, School Food and Beverage Policy, setting nutrition standards for food and beverages sold in publicly funded elementary and secondary schools in Ontario.
A cardiothoracic surgical team with UofL Health – Jewish Hospital and the University of Louisville has performed the world's first Aeson® bioprosthetic total artificial heart implantation in a female patient. The investigational device, currently intended as a bridge to heart transplant, is part of an Early Feasibility Study (EFS) sponsored by CARMAT, a French medical device company, in partnership with UofL, UofL Health – Jewish Hospital and the UofL Health – Trager Transplant Center.
