LodgeNet Healthcare today announced the expansion of their interactive patient television system at one of the country's leading cancer hospitals. In March of 2009, LodgeNet Healthcare and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center partnered on designing a state-of-the-art television system capable of delivering interactive services for patients including patient education and entertainment programming.
Researchers at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) led a study discovering a gene for a new form of intellectual disability, as well as how it likely affects cognitive development by disrupting neuron functioning.
Many eye diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, exhibit increased permeability of blood vessels in the macular (central) portion of the retina leading to abnormal fluid accumulation and vision loss.
A joint agreement recently signed by the Ugandan Ministry of Health and the U.S. Government's Global Health Initiative (GHI) to carry out collaborative initiatives targeted at "bringing quality health care to Ugandans" is "a significant effort that should, with proper implementation, improve health care services, particularly by reducing pregnancy-related deaths," a Daily Monitor editorial states.
