Mylan Inc. today announced that its subsidiary Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has resolved all disputes with Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. stemming from litigation brought by Mylan in federal court in the District of Columbia against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning Mylan's abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Modafinil Tablets, 100 mg and 200 mg.
International biotechnology firm Cytonet recently launched the first ever clinical trial in the United States using an investigational liver cell infusion to treat urea cycle disorders (UCD) in children. The first patient in the Phase II trial, which will seek to enroll 20 patients in 12 medical centers, is a child with citrullinemia, which is a hereditary UCD. He received six liver cell infusions on six consecutive days at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
Almost 90 per cent of the world's population will not have timely access to affordable supplies of vaccines and antiviral agents in the current influenza pandemic, but it is possible that inexpensive generic drugs that are readily available, even in developing countries, could save millions of lives.
