A team of clinical scientists at the University of Bristol have found a new way to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Chemed Corporation announced today that the Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 16-cents per share on the Company's capital stock, payable on September 6, 2011, to shareholders of record as of August 16, 2011. This is a 2-cent, or 14.3%, increase over the 14-cent dividend paid in the second quarter of 2011.
The first Phase II study to investigate the use of the anti-cancer drug, everolimus, for the initial treatment of advanced papillary kidney cancer has shown that it is successful in slowing or preventing the spread of the disease, according to research to be presented today (Sunday) at the 2013 European Cancer Congress.
Harbour Antibodies BV, an Erasmus MC spin-off company, announced today the completion of a non-exclusive research and licence agreement with Eli Lilly and Company, a global pharmaceutical company, to generate and develop human therapeutic antibodies comprising immunoglobulin heavy and light chains(H2L2) using one of Harbour's transgenic mouse antibody discovery platforms.
Noting the WHO and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria on Monday issued a joint statement calling for an additional $1.6 million a year to fight tuberculosis (TB) in low- and middle-income countries, GlobalPost's "Global Pulse" blog examines the global impact of childhood TB, writing, "While health officials did not single out the devastating impact of the disease on children ... WHO estimates that at least 500,000 children contract TB each year and that 70,000 die from the disease, largely in Asia and Africa."
