Ovarian cancer is the most deadly gynecological cancer, claiming the lives of more than 50% of women who are diagnosed with the disease.
Scientists have identified a new mechanism of bacterial pathogenesis. The results of the research project, partly funded by the Academy of Finland, have been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS).
A research collaboration based in Kumamoto University (Japan) has shown that lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1), an enzyme involved in gene expression, produces individualized metabolism depending on the type of acute myeloid leukemia cells.
Mallinckrodt, the Pharmaceuticals business of Covidien, today announced that it has entered into a co-promotion agreement with Horizon Pharma, Inc. to promote DUEXIS (ibuprofen and famotidine).
Students at a suburban St. Louis high school are being tested for HIV after an HIV-positive individual told health officials that as many as 50 students might have been exposed to the virus, the AP/Google.com reports.
