A University of South Florida College of Nursing researcher has been awarded a $2.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health's National Cancer Institute to study whether a home-based exercise regimen to help improve gait and balance and strengthen muscles can lessen adverse neuromuscular effects many breast cancer survivors face after chemotherapy.
UT Southwestern researchers today published in Nature atomic-scale blueprints of the most abundant class of brain nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. A structural understanding of the protein, found in neurons, could lead to new ways to treat nicotine addiction from smoking and vaping.
Interventional radiologists-minimally invasive specialists-will share scientific advances and new discoveries in treating a host of diseases at the Society of Interventional Radiology's 35th Annual Scientific Meeting March 13 at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla. Southern Africa has some of the highest rates of sexual assault in the world, with 20 percent of adolescent girls and boys reporting that they have been forced to have sex. In many cases, they are also the perpetrators: In one survey, 12 percent of boys and 5 percent of girls admitted they have forced someone else onto sex.
