The debate about vitamin D and sun exposure has been ongoing and the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) hopes to clear up some of the confusion.
The molecular structure of a protein involved in Alzheimer's disease - and the surprising discovery that it binds cholesterol - could lead to new therapeutics for the disease, Vanderbilt University investigators report in the June 1 issue of the journal Science.
Results from a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, multicentred study just published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology shows that treating Actinic Keratoses (AK) with imiquimod 3.75% (Zyclara®) following cryotherapy was more effective than cryotherapy alone in reducing total AK lesion count and achieving complete clearance of AK.
Responding to a recent study showing that 40% of patients who receive CRT-ICD therapy do not benefit from the device (Sipahi, et al – 6/13/11), Wojciech Zareba, MD, PhD, stated that improving risk stratification of heart failure patients eligible for an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) or cardiac resynchronization therapy with a defibrillator (CRT-D) is essential.
South African sports medicine expert Martin Schwellnus, MD, PhD will be presenting "Born to Break Down? Genetics in Soft Tissue Injuries" at the 21st American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA on April 22, 2012.
