Data from two Phase III studies of Merck's investigational fixed-dose combinations of mometasone furoate and formoterol fumarate (MF/F) were presented by researchers today in two poster presentations at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) annual meeting.
The largest genetic analysis of its kind to date for bipolar disorder has implicated machinery involved in the balance of sodium and calcium in brain cells. Researchers supported in part by the National Institute of Mental Health, part of the National Institutes of Health, found an association between the disorder and variation in two genes that make components of channels that manage the flow of the elements into and out of cells, including neurons.
Bigger businesses are better bets for offering employee benefits than smaller ones. The latest report from the Labor Department on benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans and paid vacations or sick leave found that 88 percent of employees at private-sector establishments with a workforce of 500 or more were likely to have access to health care benefits.
One lawmaker has reintroduced his bill that would pay Medicare doctors for having "end-of-life" conversations with patients - an idea that has bitterly divided Congress in the past. In the meantime, another lawmaker wants to change - and simplify - Medicare's reimbursement coding system.
