Teen girls who live in rural areas are more likely than their male counterparts to have undiagnosed asthma, and they often are at a higher risk of depression, according to researchers at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University.
Nancy Lindborg, USAID's assistant administrator for the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance, writes in this post in USAID's "IMPACTblog" that the U.S. "continues to call on all parties involved to allow unfettered humanitarian access to Somalis in need."
Kamada, a bio-pharmaceutical company engaged in the development, manufacturing and marketing of specialty life-saving therapeutics, announced today that it has enrolled the first patient into its pivotal clinical trial with its new breakthrough compound of inhaled alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) delivered by an Investigational eFlow Nebulizer System (PARI Pharma GmbH), in patients with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
Researchers in the University of Georgia's Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases have found that a more intensive, less frequent drug regimen with currently available therapeutics could cure the infection that causes Chagas disease, a potentially life-threatening illness affecting up to 300,000 people in the United States.
Clarient, Inc., a premier technology and services resource for pathologists, oncologists and the pharmaceutical industry, and BioView Ltd. (TASE: BIOV) today jointly announced that they will collaborate on studies to validate the clinical utility of a non-invasive test for the early detection of non-small cell lung cancer.
