Today's FDA approval of the monoclonal antibody Aduhelm (aducanumab) to treat patients with Alzheimer's disease reflects years of significant advances in Alzheimer's research. This is the first new Alzheimer's drug approved in 17 years and the first shown to modify the course of the disease, which FDA believes will lead to slowing of patients' cognitive decline.
Nikki Posnack, Ph.D., a post-doctoral pharmacology and physiology researcher at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), received a $209,926 grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to study plastics and their potential human health risks, particularly in the cardiovascular system.
A team of investigators headed by International AIDS Vaccine Initiative Investigator Pascal Poignard has been awarded a major grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the US National Institutes of Health to investigate the biological mechanisms underlying the generation of broadly neutralizing antibodies by HIV positive individuals.
Insurance status doesn't affect the quantity (or value) of imaging services received by patients in a hospital, in-patient setting, according to a study in the January issue of the Journal of the American College of Radiology.
Sosei Group Corporation, the biopharmaceutical company, today announced that Sosei Co., Ltd., its wholly owned Japanese subsidiary, was granted approval for its emergency contraceptive pill, NorLevo(R) TABLETS 0.75mg, by the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). NorLevo(R) has thus become the fist emergency contraceptive pill available in Japan.
