New clinical trial results for heart transplant patients will be released at the upcoming International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) 27th Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions at the Hilton San Francisco, April 25-28, 2007.
"Premiums that seniors pay for Medicare Advantage plans will increase an average of 25% next year, largely because insurers, in response to new federal requirements, are canceling many plans that carry no premiums, a top Medicare official said Wednesday," The Wall Street Journal reports.
Teens who drink heavily are more likely than their peers to have behavioural and attention problems and suffer from anxiety and depression, a team led by researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has reported.
A Seattle Times editorial says a "radical response" to North Korea's rocket launch would be to "keep diplomatic channels open with the 240,000 tons of food aid planned before" the launch. "Providing food aid is wholly apart from maintaining political and economic pressure on the country," the editorial says, adding, "Sending food does not preclude international sanctions to deny North Korea access to electronic technology and military hardware."
In the wake of the U.S. government ordering the Chinese artificial intelligence company iCarbonX to divest its majority ownership stake in the Cambridge, Mass.-based company PatientsLikeMe, Eric Topol, M.D., of Scripps Research, argues for more, not less, collaboration between China and the U.S. on artificial intelligence development.
