Abstinence from smoking seems to affect teens differently than adults in a couple ways, but a new study provides evidence that most of the psychological difficulties of quitting are as strong for relatively new, young smokers as they are for adults who have been smoking much longer.
Ingrown hair, also known as "razor bumps," are a common skin condition, particularly in people whose hair has the tendency to curl back or grow sideways in a hair follicle.
With fewer than 4,000 residents, the genetically isolated Micronesian island of Kosrae, in the West Pacific, provides an ideal population in which to research heritability of disease.
The New York Times reports that federal officials are investigating whether a dozen drug and device makers "made illegal payments to doctors and health officials in foreign countries." Although pharmaceutical companies routinely contract with doctors in the United States to be consultants, experts say the situation is more complex overseas because "in much of the rest of the world, doctors are government employees. And even consulting arrangements that would be considered routine in the United States might violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, particularly if the payments are outsize or the arrangements are not disclosed to the governments.
Biotage: Interim report January - June 2011. Group net sales amounted to 98.6 MSEK (103.5) in the second quarter and to 205.8 MSEK (203.4) in the period January - June. At comparable exchange rates net sales increased by 8 percent in the quarter and by 12 percent the first six months.
