A new proposed regulation announced today by the Department of Health and Human Services would ensure students enrolled in health insurance coverage through their college or university benefit from critical consumer protections created by the Affordable Care Act.

High screen-time may exacerbate cognitive, behavioral problems in children born extremely preterm

Among 6- and 7-year-olds who were born extremely preterm-before the 28th week of pregnancy-those who had more than two hours of screen time a day were more likely to have deficits in overall IQ, executive functioning (problem solving skills), impulse control and attention, according to a study funded by the National Institutes of Health.

"The big lie," as the president's broken Obamacare promise is now known, was that everyone could keep his or her doctor and insurance policy under the ACA. It is still jarring to my adult psyche to impugn another, especially the president of the United States, as a liar, so I won't. Large doses of vitamin A reduce severity of gastrointestinal disease in mice

After observing that some gastrointestinal disease in premature human and mouse infants progresses only when certain immune system white blood cells go into inflammatory overdrive, Johns Hopkins researchers have found that giving large doses of vitamin A to mice converts those blood cells into inflammation suppressors and reduces the severity of the disease, compared to untreated mice.
