The University of Texas at Arlington's College of Nursing and School of Social Work will use nearly $900,000 during the next three years to fund research to improve connections between nurses and social workers before they meet in the health care workplace.

The financing round was led by Michigan-based Beringea through its InvestMichigan! Growth Capital Fund, which provides venture and expansion-stage capital to businesses with operations in Michigan.
Roche announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the cobas HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Test for use as a first-line primary screening test for cervical cancer in women 25 and older. The approval follows the March 12 unanimous recommendation from the Microbiology Devices Panel of the FDA's Medical Devices Advisory Committee, making the cobas HPV Test the first and only HPV test in the United States approved for first-line primary screening.
Published in the April issue of Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Gamma Medica, Inc. and Mayo Clinic of Rochester, MN document the achievement of a 5-fold reduction in the necessary dose of Tc-99m sestamibi to perform Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI). This achievement enables the new LumaGEM™ MBI System by Gamma Medica to deliver the same low radiation dose as digital screening mammography.
Men who include more dairy products in their diets, especially low-fat varieties, may have a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, according to a study in the May 9 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine.
