An international research team, led by principal investigator Elizabeth A. Winzeler, PhD, professor in the pediatric division of host-microbe systems and therapeutics at University of California San Diego School of Medicine, and colleagues have received a three-year, $4.7 million supplemental grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to advance their development of improved therapies for malaria eradication and elimination.
Targeted Genetics Corporation (the "Company") today announced that it has completed the technology transfer portion of the September 2009 asset sale transaction executed between the Company and Genzyme Corporation ("Genzyme") and has received the full $7.0 million provided for in the asset purchase agreement.
Fungi are a potential goldmine for the production of pharmaceuticals. This is shown by researchers at Chalmers University of Technology, who have developed a method for finding new antibiotics from nature's own resources.
