Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized marketing of a new device intended to be worn around the neck of athletes aged 13 years and older during sports activities to aid in the protection of the brain from the effects associated with repetitive sub-concussive head impacts.
Cryo-Cell International, Inc., one of the world's largest and most established family cord blood banks and global stem cell innovators, today announced at the annual meeting of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) that the Company has formalized an industry-exclusive agreement with MedTech For Solutions, Inc., a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) representing a member network of 115 practices specializing in reproductive medicine, which operates in conjunction with The Broadlane Group.
With the support of an $11.8 million, five-year federal grant, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh and their collaborators are developing a quick-dissolving vaginal film containing a powerful drug that reduces the risk of HIV infection, and they plan to begin testing it locally within a year.
Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center scientists report they have discovered a biochemical process that gives prostate cancer cells the almost unnatural ability to change their shape, squeeze into other organs and take root in other parts of the body.
