A series of new studies led by scientists at The Scripps Research Institute and the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative describe a potential vaccination strategy to jump-start the selection and evolution of broadly effective antibodies to prevent HIV infection.
Flipping a single molecular switch can reverse illness in a model of sickle cell disease, according to a study by researchers at Children's Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. When turned off, the switch, a protein called BCL11A, allows the body to manufacture red blood cells with an alternate form of hemoglobin unaffected by the mutation that causes the disease.
The National Journal reports on speculation that the GOP decision to advance a "clean" continuing resolution may signal that the Republican leadership is trying to move away from the partisan fight surrounding efforts to repeal the health law.
Genmab A/S announced today that on March 23, 2010 Genentech, Inc. and Biogen Idec, Inc. filed a declaratory relief complaint at the US District Court, Southern District of California against Genmab's collaboration partner GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for patent infringement under US patent No 7,682,612 based on GSK's manufacture, marketing and sale of Arzerra™ in the United States for the treatment of fludarabine and alemtuzumab refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
