A global study of nearly 10,000 women with early breast cancer has found wide variations in how they were treated, despite international consensus on best practice, according to the May issue of the British Journal of Surgery.
At the International Congress on Obesity held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last week, Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput from the Healthy Active Living and Obesity research group at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute was awarded the International Journal of Obesity (IJO) New Faculty Award for Population Science and Public Health Research.
Babatunde Osotimehin, executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and under-secretary-general of the U.N., answers questions about his work from Forbes contributor Rahim Kanani in this interview excerpt.
Karen Davis will retire as president of the Commonwealth Fund, a health care research foundation, at the end of 2012. The foundation, based in New York, has hired an executive search firm to find Davis' successor. In a news release announcing her retirement, Davis said she would spend her final year helping with the leadership transition and "pursuing opportunities for contributing toward the work that is so important to ensuring that every American receives the best possible care and the opportunity to lead healthy, productive lives."
