Infants are more efficient at digesting and utilizing nutritional components of milk than adults due to a difference in the strains of bacteria that dominate their digestive tracts. Researchers from the University of California, Davis, and Utah State University report on genomic analysis of these strains in the November 2010 issue of the journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology identifying the genes that are most likely responsible for this difference.
A declaration to establish an International Brain Initiative has been made by representatives from some of the world's major brain research projects, including the Human Brain Project.
The nurses' group says this step will give them the added leverage they need to address issues related to conditions and to protect against unfair hospital management attacks.
"The National Medical Association (NMA) is anxious to see health reform put to a vote on Saturday. We believe this is long overdue for America," said Dr. Willarda Edwards, President of the National Medical Association (NMA).
