Researchers have discovered how to turn a compound from a common wildflower called Feverfew into a new treatment for leukemia.
Scientists have come up with a new drug which could prevent patients with features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) from suffering memory loss and brain damage.
A diagnosis of pancreatic or colon cancer often sparks dread about the disease's likely next destination: the liver. That's because liver metastasis is a leading cause of death in these patients.
Berson's medium pressure UV systems are being used in a trial in the Netherlands to treat hospital wastewater prior to discharge. In the trial, UV is applied in combination with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to generate OH- radicals in a so-called "Advanced Oxidation Process" (AOP). The very reactive OH- radicals attack the pharmaceutical residues in the wastewater, breaking them down into H2O, CO2 and harmless metabolites.
The severity of sleep apnoea can independently predict the aggressiveness of malignant skin melanoma, according to a new study.
