Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Aware Week aims to raise awareness of an important, yet not well understood heart rhythm disturbance. Taking place from the 23-29 November AF Aware Week increases awareness and understanding of AF amongst the general public. With AF effecting over a million people in the UK it is important that understanding of this condition is improved.
Now on Kaiser Health News' blog, Ankita Rao reports on research related to tight Medicaid eligibility and the incidence of delayed medical care: "The research letter in the March 28 issue of the journal found this number to vary significantly across the country and to be lower in places with less restrictive eligibility criteria for Medicaid, the federal-state insurance program for low-income citizens" (Rao, 3/27).
Global regenerative medicine company Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB) has announced that its Phase 2 clinical trial investigating the use of allogeneic, or off-the-shelf, Mesenchymal Precursor Cells (MPCs) for non-surgical restoration of degenerated intervertebral discs and treatment of low back pain has enrolled 50% of the total study patients. This rapid rate of enrolment attests to the major unmet medical need and to the relative simplicity of Mesoblast's non-surgical procedure. Mesoblast expects to complete full enrolment by early third quarter.
